Practical

The practical element of this project has been thought of during the writing process but the design ideas have come mainly after. This is because the writing has served as research and that has fed into my design ideas.

From the research undertaken from the dissertation, classic Russian propaganda was the main point of ideas. It is the reason the dissertation was written, and being able to understand why it is such a successful design technique. 

Research was taken with visuals from the main types of propaganda from Russia.

There is revolution propaganda which can be like the images to the bottom right.  There can be propaganda from Stalin’s time in power. This is very stylised and idealised propaganda. it’s not true to what was really going on at the time, see top right image. 

The type of design for propaganda from Stalin’s time won’t be used as it isn’t a major point of interest. The use of

White

Slogans

Is what the dissertation looks at most in great detail so, so will the practical. The practical will be an experiment to see if Russian design is still successful today.

Obey is a big influencer in the style that the posters will look like. They follow the same type of design. It's strong and very eye catching. Using similar colours and shapes will create an eye catching design for the viewer.
